A 1830 Bovet Fleurier Chinese Market Watch

My Small Pocket Watch Collection

I do not keep my watches in a safe. Unlike many collectors, I prefer wearing them as I treat them like any practical daily items that I have.

1855 Lever watch. About 15"', it has 13 jewels and uses the famous high quality, interchangable "vacheron" caliber invented by Georges Leschot. This caliber was the first ever high quality mass produced machine-made caliber. It made Vacheron Constantin jumped from a high quality low production firm to the dominant watchmaking firm in Switzerland. For awhile the firm kept this manufacturing process secret and sold the ebauches to other finishers. In 1845 both the firm and Leschot received awards from the watch industry for their achievements.

This watch was most likely first sold in New York by the famous department store Magnin in 1855. The crest is initialized with the signautre of one "N. M. Faye", who might have been the original owner.

You are most likely to see me carrying this watch in Costume balls.

The "Pantograph", a machine invented by Vacheron Constantin's Georges Leschot for producing interchangable calibers.

1869 17"' Silver Hunting Case 15J Watch, using the L20B keywind caliber, serial number 14880. The balance cock cover has the "Flying Hour-glass" trademark. The watch is a transition watch, meaning that it is both KWKS but also can be Stem Wind and lever set.
